If this was how a battle was to be with something not directly related to her mission back home, and how it would be when she had to completely rely on her human talents, Rei seriously needed to regroup. And not at the apartment. It was far too far from here now, and she needed to rest her soul as much as she needed to rest her body. The bees had seem to clear for the most part, at least, so she was safe enough the rest of the way back to the shrine. At least Rei had the forethought to send Minako a message, reassuring her that she was more or less fine, and she nearly collapsed as she got to the sacred fire.
Even if she couldn't read the flames like she had with her ESP, Rei could gather comfort from being in front of it. Comfort enough to settle into meditation, the practice settling into both her mind and bones, making her feel all the better.
Gradually, she even thought she could see some things. Masks. The park again.
Wait, no. Not thought. Was.
Her powers were back. At least her sensory ones.
The images still seemed vague, but she could see crows visiting her. Phobos and Deimos. There was music. And a darkness in the sky. Minako and herself in uniform, fighting something dark with a sword. The sword.
It wasn't the clearest of answers, but it was something. Rei urged on the fire, but instead saw an image of two tiny girls with long dark hair reaching out to her. Handing her something.
She hadn't even realized in her trance that she held her hands out to receive whatever it was. It wasn't until something actually dropped into her hands and a flutter of wings passed that she noticed.
It's time to change once more. When the enemy comes, hit them with your Mars Arrow!
A large red gem, shaped like a heart, lay in the cradle of her hands. And it called out to her, power pouring through her veins, giving her the right words.
"Mars Crystal Power... MAKE UP!"
The fire engulfed her, cleansed her, and when it cleared, her weariness was gone. In place of it all, Super Sailor Mars rose proud.
The enemy was coming. But now, she can be ready.
